The Stillness of Night

For several years, I have been posting poems that I have written, good poems from other authors that I have found and/or poems by guest authors. Today’s post is a first! This edition is written in the “prose” format.

With prose the lines do not necessarily rhyme but its subtle message is delivered with rhythmic tone when read properly.

The photo, found on the internet, compliments the theme of the prose.

This daunting prose was written by a gifted guest author, and my good friend, who uses the “nom de plume” . . . J V

Enjoy! . . . . .

*********

Evil lurks in the still of the night
Cautiously slithering by
Like a stealthy snake

Unbeknown to its prey
It strikes, it immobilizes
With venomous serum

Unable to move, to defend
The prey lies motionless
Feeling the fiery burn

Heartbeat quickens
Then succumbs
To the toxicity

Life is no more
As evil continues
To lurk in the still of night

Stuff:

The author has advised me that this prose was written as a metaphor of a real life situation. I will leave it to the readers imagination as to what happened and to whom or to what.

Please leave a comment and let us know your thoughts. Maybe, just maybe, our guest author will respond with the details.
